Cleanup crews clear a motorcycle off Highway 400 late Thursday morning. The rider was thrown from his bike after colliding with a van near Mapleview Drive, resulting in traffic chaos for several hours.

A crash on Highway 400 created traffic chaos for those going in both directions late Thursday morning.

All southbound lanes on 400 were closed briefly near Innisfil, south of Barrie, after an accident involving a van and motorcycle around 11 a.m.

The left and centre lanes northbound at Mapleview Dr. were also closed as police and ambulance attended the scene. All lanes have since reopened.

The motorcyclist was thrown off the bike just before 11 a.m. He sustained serious but non life-threatening injuries and has been transported to hospital, police said.
