Joey Tanner, 16, was stabbed to death outside an east-end apartment complex June 16. The two men charged in his death appear in court Friday.

Two young local men face another court date Friday, in connection with the killing of a Hamilton teen last summer.

Daniel Joseph Nicholson, 20, and Matthew John Massey, 19, face charges of second-degree murder and attempted murder. They will have their cases spoken to.

Joey Tanner, 16,  and an Alliston man were involved in a confrontation with several individuals in the early hours of June 16 outside a Strabane Street apartment complex. The two were stabbed, loaded onto a truck and placed on the street several blocks away.

Tanner died of his wounds in RVH that afternoon. It was Barrie’s first murder of the year. Nicholson and Massey were arrested on Toronto Street that night.

The Alliston man, 18, spent the week in RVH, but recovered from his wounds.
